SAN FRANCISCO — The No. 17-ranked San Francisco State men's basketball team used a late 9-0 run to pull away in a 78-68 CCAA victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night.
Coley Apsay's three-pointer gave SF State (21-3/14-3 CCAA) the lead to begin the game but the lead changed 22 times over the course of the night. The Gators clung to a 29-28 halftime advantage.
Chiefy Ugbaja scored the first three points of the second half though the Toros answered with four points to even the game. The lead see-sawed back and forth until the seven-minute mark of the second half.
Jash Kahlon laid one in and
Warren Jackson found
Derrick Brown for a three-pointer. Jackson followed with a pair of free throws and
Nick Calcaterra topped off the offensive explosion with a layup off the pass from
AJ Kahlon to make it 61-53 in favor of the Gators. The lead grew to as large as 13, though a six-point Toros run did trim the lead to single digits with under two minutes to play.
For the No. 3-regionally ranked Gators, Jackson led all players with 21 points and made all three of his three-point attempts. Apsay scored 11 points. Brown scored 10 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting, including two threes.
