SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State Softball team battled hard in both contests against No. 7 Chico State but would have to settle for the series split against the Wildcats. In the opener,
Megan Clark (5-8) was throwing a beauty. The senior lefty stymied the Wildcats (17-4/12-4 CCAA) for 6.1 innings before Chico State was able to break through in a big way.
With one out in the top of the seventh, and the bags full of Wildcats, opposing pitcher Haley Gilham (9-3) helped her own cause, smashing a grand slam over the left-center field fence, giving Chico State a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.
