CHICO, Calif. — The San Francisco State baseball team was shutout 5-0 by Chico State on Saturday in CCAA action at Nettleton Stadium.
Matthew Hernandez (0-1) gave up three runs in the start and was charged with his first loss. He lasted four and two thirds innings and issued six walks. That proved costly as back-to-back two-out walks in the third led to Wildcats' (14-4/7-0) first run, and a leadoff walk in the fourth came around to make it a 2-0 deficit. Hernandez was chased in the fifth and
Cy Vojak entered in relier. In the sixth inning, an error in right field with two outs led to a pair of unearned run against Vojak.
Jordan Yrastorza threw a perfect eighth inning for the Gators (3-12/1-6 CCAA).
The Gators had runners on in the first and third innings but both were caught stealing.
Zac Neumann was the team's only runner to reach scoring position but was stranded at second in the sixth inning. Casey Costello (4-0) scattered three hits in seven innings of work for the Wildcats and earned the win.
