SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball team split the season series with Cal State Monterey Bay with another split on Saturday. The Gators took game one 6-4 and dropped the seven-inning nightcap 6-0.
Down 2-0 through just the first four Otters batters, Gators starter
Ryan Bohnet (2-6) bounced back with a perfect second inning. He worked out of a jam in the third and allowed just two hits over the next five innings. He departed after 125 pitches with a 6-2 lead. The righty struck out eight, surrendered just six hits, and did not issue a walk.
The Gators erased the early deficit in the third.
Jack Harris' sac fly got the Gators on the board and
Johnny Juarez followed with a single up the middle to tie it. In the fourth inning,
Bryce Brooks' single to right field gave the Gators the lead and
Jacob Lopez doubled the lead by scoring on a wild pitch. In the seventh,
Robbie Carling plated
Chris Nicholson with a two-out single in the gap. An error kept the inning alive and Johnny Lopez made the Otters pay with his RBI single through the right side of the infield.
The Gators were held to just three hits by Otters game two starter Ryan Arambula (5-2). The game remained closed until the seventh inning. A nasty hop resulted in an infield error and the Otters' first run.
The ball takes a nasty hop and results in an infield error. The ball bounces into the air and a run scores. Gators trail 1-0. Second baseman Myles Hager blew it open with a grand slam, and a wild pitch led to the Otters' final run.

The Gators head to Hayward next week to face Cal State East Bay in a four-game series. The series begins on Friday, April 21 at 3 p.m.
