TURLOCK, Calif. — The San Francisco State women's soccer team outshot host Stanislaus State 14-9 but played to a scoreless draw on Saturday in CCAA action.
A solid SF State (5-2-1/0-1-1 CCAA) effort resulted in just one point rather than the desired three, despite playing up a player after Stan State's (5-3-1/0-3-1 CCAA) Clarissa Sandoval was issued a red card in the 51st minute.
The Gators had plenty of opportunities, including three shots in overtime but shots by
Tami Kwong and
Samantha Craig both went high.
Madison Alloway's shot in the 95th minute was blocked.
"We missed a lot of great chances and couldn't capitalize on some quality build ups," said SF State Head Coach
Tracy Hamm. "I'm happy with the creativity, but would have loved to finish a couple."
In all, eight different Gators attempted a shot.
Bianca Lowe and
Vanessa Penuna led all players with three shots each, and Lowe placed two of her attempts on goal.
"Stanislaus State played hard the entire game, regardless of being down a player," added Hamm. "I was impressed with their mentality."
SF State goalkeeper
Christina Holguin posted her third shutout of the season with a pair of saves. The Warriors did have a 9-6 corner kick advantage.
The Gators return home on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. versus Cal State East Bay. Live video and stats will be available at
