POMONA, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's basketball team fell 75-62 to first-place Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday night in CCAA action.
The fifth-place Gators (16-10/12-8 CCAA) found themselves down five in the first four minutes of play, though they did pull within two on
Ryne Williams' layup three minutes later. SF State never found a rhythm in the first half and trailed by as many as 15 before trimming the halftime deficit to eight thanks to seven consecutive points from
Warren Jackson.
Jackson took over the No. 5 spot on the Gators' all-time career scoring list with his game-high 19 points, giving him 1,187 and counting. Jackson passed Erik Fisher, who played from 1987-88 and 1990-91, and his 1,178 points.
Brantley Bynum added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the loss.
Evan Zeller added nine points, all on three-pointers, and a team-high four assists.
CPP shot 56.3 percent (27-of-48) from the field, including 60 percent (9-of-15) from deep, and won the rebounding battle 35-28. Four Broncos reached double digits, led by 15 from Quentin Taylor. William Christmas added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Jordan Ogundiran and Riley Schaefer each added 10 points apiece.
