SB | Rohrer’s Slam Gives Gators 9-6 Victory Over Eastern New Mexico

LAS VEGAS -  A grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning off the bat of Katie Rohrer gave the San Francisco state softball team its first win of the season in a 9-6 victory over Eastern New Mexico to cap off the Desert Stinger tournament.

The Greyhounds (1-4) got on the board in the top of the first, but the Gators (1-4) tied things up in the second as Angela Terrel doubled home Sara Higa. SF State took a 2-1 lead in the fourth with Higa singling and coming around on Kylee Brown's fielder's choice. Meanwhile Sam Drucker continued her dominance in the circle, holding Eastern New Mexico hitless in the first four innings.

Eastern New Mexico scored four in the top of the sixth to go up 5-2, and the Gators got two back in the bottom half. Rohrer singled home Michelle Castro and Haylee Nunes, making it 5-4. The Greyhounds added another in the top of the seventh to go up by two.

In the bottom half of the seventh, Andrea Hildan led off with a walk, moved to second on Nunes' single, and came around to score on Castro's single to the right side. Higa walked to load the bases, bringing up Rohrer who whacked a walk-off grand slam to left field.

Rohrer ended up going 3-for-4 with six batted in on the day and hit her first career home run. Higa and Castro each added a pair of hits in the contest. Drucker tossed all seven innings, striking out a season-high seven.
