SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday at Premier Field, a 1-0 loss to Cal State San Bernardino.
San Francisco State (4-1-2/1-1-1 CCAA) outshot the Coyotes (5-2-0/2-0-0 CCAA) 7-6 but was limited to just one shot on goal while CSUSB attempted three. CSUSB also had a pair of corner kicks while the Gators had just one.
The Golden Gators took their lone set piece in the 13th minute.
Tariq Pulskamp had a shot less than a minute later but it was saved. Pulskamp's shot in the 18th minute went wide. With a high of 95 degrees in San Bernardino, the officials called for a water break in the 24th minute. The Coyotes attempted their third shot of the half in the 40th minute but it went wide right.
Brandon Brunac had a chance with under a minute to go in the half but his shot also went wide right.
Danny Ortiz broke the tie in the 68th minute off of the assist from Fabian Roman. The Gators subbed in six pairs of fresh legs in the 75th minute and it led to a scoring opportunity in the 76th minute but Feliciano Cardenas' header went wide. Brandt Dixon's shots in the 82nd and 88th minutes both went high.

The Gators wrap up their Southern California road trip on Sunday, September 23 at Cal Poly Pomona. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. with live coverage provided by the Broncos. San Francisco State's next home contest is September 28 versus Cal State LA.
