POMONA, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker on Sunday at Cal Poly Pomona.
The Golden Gators (4-2-2/1-2-1 CCAA) took a first-half lead on
Miles Burditt's first goal of the season. In the 34th minute, Burditt dribbled through the defense, went to his right, and scored from a few yards out. Goalkeeper
Peter Swinkels made all three of his saves in the first half.
Cal Poly Pomona evened the game in the 51st minute on Ori Kenett's shot from the left side into the right corner. Shots by Tariq Pulskamp and Richard Leon were both saved, and Moses Gutierrez's shot in the 86th minute sailed high.
Just 36 seconds into overtime, Eduardo Faria passed to Jordan Jackmon, who took a shot from right outside the box and scored to the near post for the game-winner.
After a disappointing road trip, San Francisco State returns home next home for the next four matches, beginning Friday, September 28 versus Cal State LA. Live stats and video will be available at
