SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's soccer team scored three goals in the span of five minutes to top Cal State San Marcos 3-0 on Friday at The Cage.
- SF State got back into the win column and improves to 6-2/3-1 CCAA while Chico State improves to 7-1/3-1 CCAA.
- CSUSM was credited with 15 shots compared to nine for the Gators but SF State put eight shots on frame compared to four by the Cougars.
- The Cougars attempted four corner kicks while the Gators did not take any.
- In a physical match, the two teams combined for 30 fouls. SF State was issued five yellow cards while the Cougars collected three.
After a scoreless first half, the Gators broke through in the 60th minute. On a counter attack, SF State drew a foul just outside the box on the left side. Jonathan Orozco played the free kick into the box and London Lombana put the ball in the net to put the Gators up 1-0.
Four minutes later, a Gators cross was blocked but Lombana was there to settle it and dished it to
Julio Gonzalez Ponce, who put it in on the near post past a diving keeper for his first career goal.
Just thirty seconds later, in the 65th minute, the Gators made it 3-0. The Gators won a 50-50 ball outside the top of the box, then Lombana played a ball back to
Adrian Medina, who dribbled and launched an arching shot from just inside the top of the box that went over the head of the goalkeeper for Medina's second goal of the season.
Gators goalkeeper Peter Swinkels made four saves en route to his third shutout of the season. Matt Escareno made five saves but allowed all three Gators goals.

SF State wraps up the road trip on Sunday, October 13 at UC San Diego (8-3/3-2 CCAA). The two teams are in a six-way tie for second place with nine points each in the standings. Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m.
