By the Numbers
  • In the two teams' final matchup, the Gators (2-6-1/0-4 CCAA) are on a five-game skid. The 0-4 conference start is the program's slowest since starting 0-3 in 2014.
  • The second-ranked team in the country, UC San Diego will be moving to NCAA Division I next season. In the programs' last 14 meetings dating back to 2007, UCSD is 9-1-4. The Gators' only win came at UCSD in 2009.
  • UCSD outshot SF State 25-5(10-2). The Tritons also held an 8-3 corner kick advantage.

How They Scored

SF State played a solid first half and played to a scoreless draw at the half. AJ Tanner had an opportunity in the 27th minute but the Tritons made a team save.

However, the nationally-ranked Tritons made adjustments and came out on the attack. In the 48th minute, Mika Celeste's corner kick found Kameryn Hoban, whose attempt was blocked. Natalie Saddic was there with the rebound to give UCSD the lead. Celeste scored in the 64th minute on an unassisted cornerk kick.

After a Gators free kick was cleared, UC San Diego countered in the 67th minute. Goalkeeper Sommer Harrington came off her line and out of the box to try and clear the ball but collided with Emily Killeen. Harrington was shown a red card and Hayley Garriott came on as the Gators were forced to play a player down. Celeste took the free kick from the right side and her shot went upper shelf for the Tritons' third goal of the day.

Glory Smith had a shot in the 76th minute for the Gators that was saved.
