By the Numbers
  • In addition to being the fourth shutout, the win is the Gators' (7-3/4-2 CCAA) third 1-0 victory this year as well as their fifth one-goal win this campaign.
  • The very physical contest saw six yellows and one red as well as 29 fouls.
  • The Otters (6-3-1/1-3-1 CCAA) only strung together two shots on goal, one of which came in the closing minute of the match but the Gator defense closed in on the attacker and he was only able to hit the crossbar.
  • Francisco Saucedo is now tied for the team lead in goals with three as he recorded his first game winner of the year. Brandon Sands also earned his first assist of the season.

How They Scored

In the 21st, Sands ripped a shot from outside the box that was stopped but the goalie, but Saucedo absorbed contact and headed in the deflection to the back of the net for the early lead. Saucedo and the Otter goalie would stay down on the ground for a few minutes following the collision, and Saucedo would leave the game to get medical attention but returned help preserve the shutout.
