MSOC | Pair of Late Goals Lift Gators Over Pioneers

SAN FRANCISCO — A pair of second-half goals including one in the 89th minute sent the San Francisco State men's soccer team home victorious on Sunday as the Gators defeated the East Bay Pioneers in comeback fashion, 2-1.

  • The win improves the Gators (8-3/5-2 CCAA) to 3-1 at home and is their second consecutive victory. 
  • SF State is 6-2 in one-goal games this season.
  • The 15 shots are a season high for the squad, and ten of those shots came in the final 45 minutes.
  • SF State dominated time of possession throughout the contest and held the visitors to just six total shots.
  • London Lombana netted his third game winner of the season.

How They Scored

In the 11th, Mateo Didomenico sent in a free kick from outside the right side of the box that Tommy Flora headed past Peter Swinkels to the near post for the early lead.

In the 63rd minute, Uzoma Onuoma shot from the left side and the ball found Crinan Dunbar right outside the box, who ripped it to the far post for his first goal of the year.

Julio Ponce Gonzalez crossed it in from the left in the 89th and found Lombana, who headed it near post for his third goal of the year.

Swinkels made two saves on the day on three shots on goal from Cal State East Bay. The junior now has eight wins on the year.
