SAN FRANCISCO — Despite a goal in the sixth minute, the San Francisco State women's soccer team fell to the visiting Cal State East Bay Pioneers, 2-1, on Sunday.
- Emily Kaleal ended a scoreless streak of two games for the Gators with a score in the sixth minute.
- SF State (2-9-1/0-7 CCAA) outshot the Pioneers (4-5-3/3-2-1 CCAA) 18 to 8, 13 of which came in the second half. The 18 shots are a season high for SF State.
- East Bay goalkeeper Jordan Smith made nine saves, the most by an opponent this season.
In the 7th, Valentina Riveros took a shot that deflected off the keeper right to Kaleal, who went near post for the early lead and her first goal of the year.
A questionable handball call in the box gave the Pioneers a penalty kick in the 42nd minute, and Lauren McDougal netted the opportunity to level the match.
In the 51st, Ally Smith passed to Chace Miguel on the right, who went far left post past the diving Sommer Harrington for the game winner.
The eight shots faced are a season low for Harrington, who recorded one save on the day.
The Gators hit the road to face Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, October 25 at 12:30 p.m.
