POMONA, Calif. — Two days after defeating the No. 2 team in the nation, the San Francisco State men's soccer team settled for a road trip split with a forgettable 7-1 loss at Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon at Kellogg Stadium.
- Of the four matches SF State (9-4/6-3 CCAA) has dropped this season, two came by the score of 2-1. The others were a 5-1 decision and Sunday's 7-1 defeat.
- The Gators were outshot 27-11 and mustered just one shot on goal, Seiya Otsuka's goal.
- SF State was without defender Kasper Tindbaek. The Gators are 1-2 when he has not been in the lineup.
The Gators went down 2-0 quickly after allowing back-to-back goals in the 13th and 14th minutes. Otsuka's goal in the 42nd minute cut the lead to 2-1 but the Broncos got the lead right back with Jason Ramos' free kick in the 44th minute that resulted in a goal.
The Broncos added on in the 47th minute. They continued with goals in the 50th minute and 71st minute, and capped it off with a penalty kick in the 74th minute.
Peter Swinkels made four saves and allowed a career-high seven goals. Jordan Aldama allowed the only shot that he faced.
SF State is slated to head to Humboldt State for a match on Saturday, November 2 at 2 p.m. That match was rescheduled from September 25 due to a flash flood in Arcata that left the Lumberjacks' field unplayable. However, Humboldt State is currently without power as a result of the Public Safety Power Shutoff initiated by PG&E.
