CARSON, California - The San Francisco State volleyball team fell in its regular season finale on Saturday to the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros, 3-2 (18-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-12).
SF State will serve as the No. 7 seed at the CCAA Tournament, taking on No. 25 Cal State Los Angeles on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The Gators are making their second-straight postseason appearance.Â
- Drew Morris led the way once again with 17 kills and 14 digs for her third-straight double-double. Bailey Johnson followed with 15 kills and three blocks.
- Trinity Barr powered in 10 kills with a career best seven blocks. Jade Gillespie added a career-high 23 digs while Taylor Garcia added a season best 33.Â
- Payton Jensen had 49 assists.Â
- SF State (16-10/9-8 CCAA) is already in the top ten in program history for kills per set, attack percentage, assists per set and aces.
Morris' kill made it 5-2 early, but the Toros (14-10/7-10 CCAA) were able to tie it shortly after, 6-6. Another run, this time of four points featuring kills by Jessica Haynie and Johnson, gave the Gators a 19-16 lead, and they would close out the early lead with a 6-1 streak, which was benefited by three Toro attack errors as SF State rolled to a 25-18 win.
The back-and-forth carried over into the second with the host errors also continuing and leveling the match, 9-9. A Haynie swing sandwiched between two booming Barr kills to the feet of the Toros gave the Gators a 14-13 lead. SF State ended the frame with a 6-0 run, with more kills by Morris and Barr for the key match lead.Â
Dominguez Hills bounced back in the third with six of the first seven points. They quickly pushed their lead to 16-10 on kills by Mikayla Rogers and Kenadi Mitchell. The hosts got more big swings as they got on the board with a 25-17 win, capped off by a 6-2 streak.Â

Morris accounted for three-straight points as the Gators led, 9-6. The Toros would end up regaining the lead with another 6-1 run, which was broken up by Gillespie's kills. The junior added an ace that put the Gators up 15-13. Trailing 20-19, Dominguez Hills got a pair of aces and kills as they went up 24-19, and another Rogers kills leveled the match.Â
Two Toro attack errors and a Johnson swing off an assist from Payton Jensen made it a 9-8 Gator lead, however the hosts were able to quickly regain the one-point lead as they looked to close it out. A kill by Alanni Carter followed by an ace won it for Dominguez Hills, 15-12.Â
The Gators begin the postseason next Thursday against No. 2 Cal State Los Angeles at 2:30 p.m. LIve stats and a stream will be provided.Â
