MBB | Gators Conclude 2019 with Exhibition Loss

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's basketball team ended 2019 with an 85-50 exhibition loss at CSUN on Sunday afternoon.

By the Numbers

  • Ten different Gators scored in the contest. Jacob Huynh led the Gators with nine points in 15 minutes of action in his return to the court. He missed the last six games after leaving the game with an injury on November 23 at Cal State San Marcos.
  • Linton Acliese added eight points and six rebounds.
  • DJ Sylvester added seven points and made both three-pointers that he attempted.
  • Tyler Jackson led the Gators with seven rebounds.
  • SF State committed 26 fouls, compared to 15 for the Matadors. Three Gators had four fouls apiece and Zane Paddon fouled out.
  • Lamine Diane led all players with 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting and 12 rebounds. Terrell Gomez added 18 points, Elijah Harkless had 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Lance Coleman II scored 10 points.

First Half

DJ Sylvester's three-pointer with 18:41 gave the Gators an early lead but the Matadors used a six-point run to take the lead and never looked back. SF State pulled to within two but the Matadors opened the game up around the 10-minute mark and took an 11-point lead. The deficit grew to 23 by the half.

Second Half

SF State was limited to 30.6 percent (11-of-36) in the second half while the Matadors outpaced the Gators by a dozen points in the half, thanks in large part to 50 percent (4-of-8) shooting from deep.
