BOSTON - The No. 4 San Francisco State women's track & field team turned in more top-five finishes and improved on provisional qualifiers on Sunday at the Boston University Last Chance Invitational. Timarya Baynard and Monisha Lewis also both represented at the USATF Indoor Championships in New York.
Lewis qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.15, which is not only a program record but the fifth-fastest time in Division II history. In the finals Lewis placed seventh with a time of 8.21, with the winner clocking in at 7.85 which is the top time in the world this year.
Baynard competed in the 300m at the USATF Indoor Championships, running a 39.81 on Saturday.
At the Boston University Last Chance Invitational, Destiny Mack-Talalemotu rolled to a first-place finish in shot put with a throw of 14.74m, which he recorded on her sixth and final throw. The distance improves on her provisional qualifier that she set earlier this year. Courtney Massengale took third with a personal-best 14.15m, which also improves on her provisional qualifier and is the third-best throw in program history.Â
Mack-Talalemotu's strong day continued in weight throw as she added another first-place finish, tossing a 19.07m to best her provisional mark that she set earlier this season.Â
Jazmine Smith ran a 55.05 in the 400m to take sixth in the field of 47 competitors. The time is a personal best for Smith as well as the second-fastest time in Gator history while also improving her provisional mark.Â
In the 200m, Smith grabbed third place with a personal-best 24.33, another provisional improvement and the third-fastest time in SF State history. Baynard took ninth with a time of 24.76, which bests her provisional mark of 24.86 that she set at the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
