By the Numbers

  • The six errors committed in game one are a season high for the (17-5/15-4 CCAA) Tritons, and SF State (12-10/9-10 CCAA) made the most of the four committed by the hosts in the 12-run sixth inning.
  • Brylynn Vallejos' reach-base streak ended at 20 games while Nina Revoir reached 19, and both are the longest streaks by freshmen in the last six years
  • Michelle Castro went 3-for-4 with two runs and a walk in game one. Revoir went 2-for-3 for her seventh multi-hit game of the year with a pair of RBI. Samantha Alvarez also knocked two in and added another RBI in game two. Vallejos and Alvarez each added two hits in game two.
  • Emily Mitchell threw all 11 innings in game two with six strikeouts, her fourth 7+ inning performance of the year.
  • The win is the third over a ranked team this season, the most since 2014.

How They Scored
  • The Tritons went up 2-0 following Sherriah Harrington's two-run single to center with two outs in the first.
  • Keila Bosinger led off the bottom of the third with a base hit up the middle, advanced to second on a groundout, and went to third on a passed ball. Maddy Lewis and Harrington walked to load the bases, brining up Clarissa Reynoso who knocked a two-run double to left for the 4-0 lead.
  • Castro led off the fourth with a double to left-center and quickly scored as Revoir hit the first pitch of the at-bat to shallow right for the single to make it 4-1.
  • One more scored for the hosts in the fourth on Lewis' RBI single to left-center that plated Lavrov to regain the four-run lead.
  • In the top if the fifth, Hayley Nunes walked and Sydney Jenkins doubled her home two batters later to make it 5-2.
  • In the sixth, Castro led off an inning with a double and Revoir walked. A fielding error by the third baseman off the bat of Tianna Jacques put her to third, sent Revoir to third, and scored Castro to cut it to two. Another Triton error, this time of the bat of Katie Rohrer who hit a chopper to second, allowed SF State to add another to the scoreboard and make it 5-4. Nunes walked to load the bases and UC San Diego replaced Robyn Wampler in the circle. Alvarez tied things up with a sharp single trough the right side to score Jacques, and pinch hitter Lehua DeLeon walked to force in another run as SF State now lead 6-5. Vallejos hit a sharp grounder to second and the second baseman made a great diving grab to her right and flipped to the short stop at second, but the ball bounced off her glove for their fifth error of the game allowing Alvarez and Nunes to score for SF State as they now led by three. The rally continued as Hildan singled to left-center to plate DeLeon and make it a 9-5 lead, and Castro's groundout sent Vallejos home. Revoir doubled to left for her second hit of the game and score Hildan for the six-run lead. Jacques got hit by a pitch. Nunes blooped a single to left and went to second on the throw to bring around Jacques for the 12-5 lead, and a wild pitch scored Rohrer for the eight-run advantage. Alvarez hit one to short that went right through the shortstop's legs and went all the way to the wall, and the freshman legged to out to third and hit in another run to cap off the 12-run frame.
  • The Tritons avoided the run-rule by quickly scoring a pair in the bottom half to cut it to seven. Reynoso's RBI groundout to short made it 14-8. Kinley Kyro singled to left to score Harrington and make it a five-run game.
  • UC San Diego got one more in the seventh as Lewis singled up the middle to score Kazakoff, bringing the score to 14-10.
