LOS ANGELES — The No. 17 San Francisco State baseball team had a forgettable series finale versus Cal State LA, dropping the game 14-3 on Sunday at Reedy Field.
- With No. 8 UC San Diego beating Chico State, SF State falls out of first place in the CCAA for the first time this season and into second place.
- With a 2-for-4 day, Jack Harris extended his hit streak to 10 games. He is one of six Gators batting over .300.
- The Gators' team ERA, which stood 3.88 entering play on Sunday, ballooned to 4.25 by the end of the day. Additionally, the Gators are allowing 1.53 unearned runs per game.
- The 14 runs scored were the most allowed by the Gators this season.
- With five more errors, the Gators have committed at least one error in their last 13 games. The are averaging 2.7 per game.
GAME ONE
- Cal State LA took a 2-0 lead with runs in the second and third innings.
- Harris launched his second homer of the series, a solo shot to left center, in the fifth. Antone Self kept the inning alive with a two-out single and Jason Hare delivered a double with Self scoring from first to tie the game.
- Adam Gordon gave the Golden Eagles the lead right back with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth. Right fielder Trevor Greenley was shook up on the play and replaced by Riley Cleary.
- Cleary delivered a game-tying, two-out triple in the sixth. That scored Shaq Robinson, who was given new life after a dropped foul ball, and took advantage with a single.
- Things took a turn for the worse in the bottom of the sixth as the Golden Eagles struck for six runs on six hits with two Gators errors.
- The Golden Eagles added five more runs on four hits in the seventh to put the game well out of reach.
- The Gators used five pitchers. Jordyn Eglite (2-2) gave up eight runs, seven earned.
- Nate Jenkins replaced Eglite in the disastrous sixth inning and threw a wild pitch and issued a walk.
- Daniel Jimenez faced two batters to finish the sixth. Jimenez allowed a run, charged to Jenkins, and recorded the final out of the inning.
- Ryan Nabas allowed five runs, three earned, in the seventh.
- Luke Genova was the one bright spot for the Gators pitchers on Sunday. The righty struck out two in a perfect inning of work.
- Alec Daily (3-2) went seven innings for the Golden Eagles and struck out 10, the most by a Cal State LA pitcher this season. Miguel Garcia and Jackson Bond each threw a scoreless inning of relief.
