GREENWOOD, Indiana - Devanique Brown of the No. 5 San Francisco State women's track & field team has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Brown is just one of three CCAA student-athletes on the All-America team and one of seven from the West Region. This season Brown made it back-to-back heptathlon titles at the CCAA Championships, becoming the first Gator in program history to do so. This year at the Championships she accumulated 4,945 points and finished in the top four in every event including a pair of first-place finishes in the 100m hurdles and in the 200m to help lead SF State to consecutive conference titles. The senior left her mark on the program after four strong years, and owns five top-ten marks on the all-time outdoor performance list. A Broadcasting and Electronic Communication Arts major, Brown boasts an exemplary 3.96 GPA.
Brown is the third Academic All-America honoree in SF State history, joining track & field's Lisa Promessi in 2003 and baseball's Jackson Kritsch in 2018.
The 16 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II women's track/cross country first team members hold a composite 3.90 GPA. Twenty-one members of the 45-player first, second and third teams honorees hold a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA. The award selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
