MBB | Three-Game Win Streak Snapped by First-Place Tritons

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's basketball team saw its three-game win streak snapped by No. 5 UC San Diego on Thursday night inside the Main Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.

  • The Gators (8-12/5-8 CCAA) are winners of three straight. With Cal State San Marcos losing on Saturday, the Gators stand in a three-way tie for seventh and a game out of sixth place.
  • The first-place Tritons (18-1/12-1 CCAA) capitalized on 14 Gators turnovers that led directly to 16 points.
  • The Gators scored two more points in the second half than they did in the first 20 minutes despite going 8-of-29 (27.6 percent) in the second half.
  • Linton Acliese III led the Gators with 19 points in 18 minutes. His playing time was limited in the first half due to a pair of early fouls.
  • Tyler Jackson, DJ Sylvester, and Jase Wickliffe all chipped in eight points apiece in the loss.
  • Acliese and Jackson shared the team lead with seven rebounds apiece.
  • Christian Oshita was one of four Tritons in double digits and shared the game lead with 19. He made it a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

First Half
The Gators jumped out to a six-point advantage in the first couple of minutes. However, Gabe Hadley erased the lead with a three-pointer with under 12 minutes to go in the half and UCSD turned the tables to take a four-point advantage. From there, the Tritons' lead grew to 10 with two and a half minutes to play.

Second Half


UCSD poured it on in the second half. Five quick points grew the deficit to 15 and the Gators trailed by 20 with 10 minutes to play. The Gators got no closer than 16 and trailed by as many as 27.
