How They Scored

  • It was all Gators in game one. They left the bases loaded in the first but got on the board in the second on Jonah Gonzales' sac fly. Jackson Kritsch doubled the lead with a two-out single through the left side.
  • SF State doubled its lead in the fourth inning. Nick Upstill and Rudy Aguilar both singled and Gonzales and Kritsch each delivered RBI singles through the right side.
  • Three consecutive Wildcats singles in the bottom of the sixth cut the lead to 4-1.
  • However, the Chico State bullpen failed to get a shutdown inning. Richie Rios and Upstill greeted reliever Kenton Carruthers with back-to-back singles, then Carruthers balked. Carruthers got a groundout but gave way to Brendan Henry. Thaddeus Wilson greeted Henry with an RBI single through the right side and Gonzales followed with one of his own. Kritsch added a sac fly to make it 7-1.
  • The Wildcats got a run back on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh.
