How They Scored

  • UCSD took an early lead with a three-run bottom of the first but the Gators answered in the top of the second. Richie Rios led off with a home run. With one out, Marco Salvetti, Mitch Sancier, and Rudy Aguilar, and Jonah Gonzales all singled. An error helped a run score on Aguilar's hit and Aguilar scored on Gonazales' base hit. Gonzales stole second and scored on a Nick Upstill single that made it a 5-3 Gators advantage.
  • Shay Whitcomb trimmed the lead to one with an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second.
  • A UCSD error in the third led to another run for the Golden Gators.
  • Anthony Luchetti's homer in the fifth inning once again put the Tritons ahead, 7-6.
  • Jason Hare tied the game in the seventh with a groundout to short that plated Kritsch.
  • Brandon Stewart laid down a squeeze bunt that scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. A rare error by Hare allowed two more runs to score.
  • Kritsch singled in the ninth but the Gators hit into a game-ending double play.
