CARSON, Calif. — The San Francisco State softball team salvaged the final game of the series in Saturday's CCAA doubleheader at Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Gators dropped game one 9-1 in five innings and stormed back to take the second game 9-3.
- SF State (12-11/8-8 CCAA) was outhit 9-3 by the second-place Toros(14-6/7-3 CCAA) in game one and outhit them 10-4 in the series finale.
- Brylynn Vallejos had another stolen base and now has 24, which continues to pace the nation. The team's 61 stolen bases paces the CCAA.
- Katie Rohrer homered in game two, giving her a team-leading four longballs.
- Lehua DeLeon went 4-for-5 with three runs, an RBI, and a stolen base.
GAME ONE
- The Toros jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first with Jade Loe's two-out, two-run homer.
- SF State got a run back in the third. Lehua DeLeon began the inning with a double to right and scored on Vallejos' two-out infield single.
- CSUDH got the run and more back in the bottom of the third with Chenoa Au's three-run homer, her third homer of the series.
- In the fifth, Jade Loe went deep again and Dafne Bravo made it back-to-back homers to walk it off.
- Natalie Minteer (7-8) struck out six but gave up nine runs on nine hits in four and a third innings of work.
- Ashley Wies (4-2) picked up the win with four innings of one-run ball. Alyssa Olague pitched a perfect fifth.
GAME TWO
- CSUDH continued to put the ball out of the park and took an early lead with Bravo's three-run shot in the bottom of the first.
- Rohrer led off the second inning with her second homer of the series.
- In the third, DeLeon led off with another single and Vallejos followed with a two-run blast to center.
- In the fourth, the first two Gators reached on an error and on a fielder's choice. Samantha Alvarez drew a six-pitch walk and DeLeon gave the Gators the lead with a single through the right side. Vallejos scored a run with a fielder's choice, Michelle Castro double home a pair and later stole home, and Nina Revoir added another run with a single through the left side.
- Minteer was lifted after the first and Tianna Jacques came in to pitch. She allowed just two hits over six innings to pick up the win in her first career pitching appearance.
- The Toros used three pitchers in the nightcap. Clarisa Ramirez (1-1) pitched just one and a third inning but gave up four of the nine runs.
