SAN MARCOS, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's soccer team dropped its final match of the road trip on Sunday, a 4-1 loss to Cal State San Marcos at The Cage.
- SF State slips to 4-5-2/0-2-2 CCAA while Cal State San Marcos improves to 2-7-1/1-2-1 CCAA.
- Cal State San Marcos held a 21-11 shot advantage, including 15-8 shots on goal.
- The Gators held a 9-5 corner kick advantage and scored off of a set piece.
- Gustavo Ferrari notched an assist has 24 total points through 11 matches (2.18 ppg), which leads all CCAA players.
After falling behind in the seventh minute, the Gators responded quickly and countered in the ninth minute. SF State earned a corner kick and Ferrari connected with
Mats Risto Kippe on the equalizer.
The Cougars regained the lead in the 34th minute and scored twice in the second half, in the 52nd and 77th minutes, to put things out of reach.
Matias Herrera Fuentes finished with a career-high 11 saves, which is tied for most saves in a single match in program history. That ties Colt Reichl's 2013 performance versus Cal State LA. Jesus Mentado made six saves for the Cougars.
