SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's soccer team battled from down a goal to earn a point in conference play in a 2-2 draw at home versus Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday at Cox Stadium.
- SF State moves to 4-5-3/0-2-3 CCAA while Cal State San Monterey Bay moves to 5-2-4/1-2-2 CCAA.
- The Gators move into a four-way tie for eighth place in the CCAA standings while the Otters take sole possession of fifth place.
- Cal State San Monterey Bay held a 14-12 shot advantage but the Gators placed more shots on frame, 9-5.
- The Otters held a 10-5 corner kick advantage.
- Gustavo Ferrari entered play averaging 2.18 points per game. He notched two goals, bringing his total to 11 for the season, which leads all CCAA players.
SF State took the match's first lead in the 19th minute on Ferrari's 10th goal of the season, a ball to the far post.
Adrian Rebollar fired off a pair of goals in the 33rd and 36th minutes that sent the Otters into the half with a 2-1 advantage. Ferrari evened the score in the 55th minute off of an assist from
Julio Gonzalez Ponce and the two teams played the remaining 55 minutes. Janos Kömerling had an opportunity with 16 minutes remaining in regulation but booted his shot high. The Otters played a man down after Alexis Sanchez picked up a red card in the 95th minute.
Justin Wolfe had a shot in the final seconds but his shot from near the midfield was easily saved.
Matias Herrera Fuentes finished with three saves. Adrian Muñoz made a season-high seven saves and also picked up a yellow card.
