SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's soccer team played a tough first half but the Gators allowed a pair of second-half goals in a 2-0 loss to Seattle Pacific on Thursday at Cox Stadium.
- SPU moves to 2-0 on the season while the Gators fall to 1-4.
- Seattle Pacific is receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Top 25 poll.
- The Falcons wore the Gators down in the second half with fresh legs. In all, FPU made 11 substitutions in the second half.
- Both teams had three shots in the first half but FPU put the pressure on in the second half with a 7-3 advantage. FPU also held a 7-1 corner kick advantage.
- The Gators have been shutout in all four of their losses.
After not attempting a shot on goal in the first half, Seattle Pacific wasted no time. The Falcons tested Sommer Harrington with a shot in the 47th minute. The Gators defense continued to hold the line with a pair of blocked shots but the second resulted in a corner kick in the 55th minute and the Falcons scored off of the set piece when Ava Giovanola served up a ball that Madison Ibale headed in. On the ensuing kickoff, AJ Tanner had an attempt but had her shot saved. Claire Neder assisted AJ DePinto in the 85th minute for an insurance goal.
Harrington made a pair of saves and allowed two balls past her in her first start of the season. Riley Travis made three saves and picked up the win for the Falcons.
