LOS ANGELES - The San Francisco State women's basketball team fell to Cal State LA 86-41 at University Gym Saturday afternoon. The Gators shot a season low 23.0 percent from the field and less than 10 percent from beyond the arch.
- Gators fall to 6-11 overall and 4-9 in the CCAA. Cal State LA improves to 7-9 and 6-5 in the CCAA.
- Alexsandra Alvarado and Jolene Armandariz each had 11 points for the Gators.
- The Gators had 10 blocks, the second most in a single game in school history. Audrey Moulton recorded her first career block and finished with two.
- Cal State LA shot 47.9 percent from the field and 31.3 from beyond the arch.
- The Golden Eagles had a major advantage on rebounds, 63 to 27.
- Ani Washington had 26 points for the Golden Eagles.
The Gators struggled to find a their shot and scored their first basket at 5:22 when Kali Myers took the feed from Samaria Velazquez to cut the Golden Eagle's lead to 10-2. The Golden Eagles, who shot 47.1 from the field through two quarters, took advantage of a cold shooting Gator team and built a lead that reached 28 points during the second quarter. A 6-0 run at the end of the second quarter cut the bleeding for the Gators as they trailed 43-21 at the end of the quarter. The Gators shooting improved a little in the third quarter, but they were unable to slow down a hot shooting Golden Eagles team that had a major advantage with rebounds.
SF State will return home to face Sonoma State on February 3. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. Games are currently closed to the general public. To learn more, click here.
