POMONA, Calif. — The San Francisco State women's soccer team picked up a crucial road win with a 1-0 victory at Cal Poly Pomona on Friday at Kellogg Stadium.
- The Gators improve to 4-7-3 overall and 2-3-2 in CCAA play and stay in the playoff hunt with three more points. The Gators currently have eight points and have four matches remaining, all versus teams currently above them in the standings. The Broncos, who are in a four-way tie for first place with 13 points, drop to 5-6-2 overall and 4-2-1 in CCAA action.
- Cal Poly Pomona outshot the Broncos 15-7, including 5-3 on goal. Samantha Shim led the Gators with a pair of shots on goal but it was AJ Tanner who found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
- The Broncos also held a 4-1 corner kick advantage.
The lone goal of the match came in the 56th minute when Tanner attempted a free kick near the midfield. She placed a ball right in front of the net but Broncos midfielder Jessica Llamas headed the ball back and into her own net.
Marcella Salyer (3-6-3) made five saves en route to back-to-back shutouts, and her fifth total shutout of the season. Audrey Brown (5-5-2) made two saves in the loss for the Broncos.
SF State continues the road trip on Sunday, October 16 at Cal State LA (6-2-5/3-0-4 CCAA), who is also currently tied for first place with 13 points.
