LOS ANGELES — The San Francisco State women's soccer team played evenly but dropped Sunday's CCAA contest, 1-0, to Cal State LA at University Stadium.
- The Golden Gators slipped to 4-8-3 overall and 2-4-2 in CCAA play. The first-place Golden Eagles, who are receiving votes in the latest national rankings, improve to 7-2-5 overall and remain the only CCAA team undefeated in conference play at 4-0-4.
- The Golden Eagles held a slight 13-11 shot advantage, including 6-4 on goal.
- The Golden Gators held a 5-3 corner kick advantage.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half but the Golden Eagles netted the game-winner in the 66th minute when Liliana Gonzalez corralled a loose ball and sent a long post from the center to the far post. The Gators countered and drew a yellow card but
AJ Tanner's shot was off target to the left. In the 74th minute,
Alyna Flores missed left and
Sydney Yuen followed a minute later but her shot went high. Yuen put a shot on frame in the 78th minute but saw her shot saved. The Golden Gators worked two corner kicks in the final five minutes but
Julia Hagedorn's shot was saved and Flores' shot in the 87th minute sailed high.
Marcella Salyer (3-7-3) made five saves in the loss. Areli Reyes (7-1-5) made three saves for the Golden Eagles.
SF State hosts its final homestand of the season this week, beginning Friday, October 21 at 3 p.m. vs. third-place Cal State San Marcos (6-5-4/4-2-2).
