SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's soccer team dominated the offensive end but came from behind for a 1-1 draw versus visiting Cal State San Marcos on Friday afternoon at Cox Stadium.
- The Golden Gators move to 4-8-4 overall and 2-4-3 in CCAA play. The third-place Cougars move to 6-5-5 overall and 4-2-3 with 15 points in CCAA play.
- SF State had an 11-3 shot advantage with eight Gators shots placed on frame. The Cougars put all three of their shots on goal.
- The Cougars held a 3-0 corner kick advantage.
- The two teams were whistled for 18 fouls with no penalties.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half and finally saw the lights on the scoreboard illuminate when Taylor Moorehead dribbled through traffic and scored for the Cougars in the 70th minute. The Gators failed to clear a ball out of their half of the field. Hannah Ramos took the ball down the right side of the field and played it into Moorehead, who lost the ball but got her left foot on it for a goal into the upper V. SF State wasted no time answering though and evened the score just 26 seconds later. Samantha Shin passed ahead to
AJ Tanner on the right side. She lost a defender and used a left touch also from just outside the right side of the box to
Brynn Reyes, who headed it in over the leaping goalkeeper to make it 1-1. The two teams defended each other the rest of the way and neither team registered another shot.
Marcella Salyer (3-7-4) made two saves in the draw. Allison Macure (6-5-5) made a season-high seven saves for the Cougars.
