SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's soccer team scored early but settled for a 1-1 draw versus visiting Cal State San San Bernardino on Sunday afternoon at Cox Stadium.
- The Golden Gators move to 4-8-5 overall and 2-4-4 in CCAA play while the Coyotes move to 7-6-3 overall and 3-4-3 in CCAA play. However, with Cal State San Marcos playing to a 0-0 draw at first-place RV Sonoma State, both teams have been eliminated from the prospect of postseason play.
- CSUSB outshot the Gators 8-6, including 7-5 on goal.
- The Cougars held an 8-1 corner kick advantage with most of those chances coming late in the second half.
- The two teams were whistled for 19 fouls with one yellow card issued to CSUSB.
The Gators wasted no time attacking but a cross 29 seconds into the match glanced off of the crossbar for a Coyotes goal kick. In the fourth minute, Taylor Reed headed a ball point blank but that attempt was saved. In the ninth minute, Carissa Capinpin banged a shot off of the right post and had her rebound saved. Reed had a slow roller saved in the 11th minute. Capinpin delivered in the 13th minute in the front of the box on a pass from Reed and this time Capinpin's ball rolled inside the right post for the early Gators lead.

Marcella Salyerlyer stopped a penalty kick but CSUSB eventually broke through in the 81st minute. Nathaly Losada Lucumi had her shot saved but Sarah Mahfoud fired the rebound back in for the equalizer. The Coyotes continued to attack but the Gators held them to the one goal.
Marcella Salyer (3-7-5) matched a season-high six saves stopped the penalty kick. Carly Luna (7-6-3) made four saves for the Coyotes.
"We competed hard, and attacked early like we planned. That resulted in a great goal from Carissa," said Head Coach John DeMartini. "Credit to both teams. It's late in the season and nobody quit, everybody battled until the final whistle."
SF State finishes the season on Thursday, October 27 at 11:30 a.m. at first-place RV Sonoma State (10-3-3/6-2-2 CCAA). That match will be broadcast on the CCAA Network with live stats available at sfstategators.com. Updates will also be available on Twitter at @sfstate_wsoc.
