HAYWARD, Calif. — The San Francisco State women's soccer team notched its first CCAA win on Sunday afternoon at Cal State East Bay.
- SF State improves to 3-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 in CCAA action while the host Pioneers fall to 2-5-3 overall and remains in search of their first CCAA win at 0-3-1 in conference play.
- The Pioneers outshot the 10-8 but the Gators placed five shots on goal compared to CSUEB's four.
- SF State also held a slight 3-2 corner kick advantage.
- The Gators snapped a 370-minute scoreless streak that began in a 1-1 tie at Dominican on September 20, spanned three scoreless outings, and ended with Sunday's goal.
The only goal of the day came in the 64th minute.
Sydney Vidos gained control of the ball and worked around a defender to get the ball to
Samantha Shim, who dished ahead to her right to a wide-open
Sydney Yuen. Yuen went right through the legs of goalkeeper Jordan Smith for the score.
Marcella Salyer (2-5-2) made four saves en route to the shutout. Smith (2-5-3) also made four saves in a losing effort for the Pioneer.
"Great win on the road, feels good to get that first conference victory. The CCAA is so incredibly challenging, every point matters whether it's a tie or a win." said Head Coach John DeMartini. "Super proud of the team, they've stayed with it. Things are going in the right direction again."
