SEASIDE, Calif. — The San Francisco State women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday afternoon at Cardinale Stadium.
- SF State drops to 3-7-2 overall and 1-3-1 in CCAA action while the host Otters improve to 5-4-3 and 2-2-1 in CCAA action.
- SF State outshot the Otters 12-11 and both teams attempted seven shots on goal.
- The Gators also held a 3-1 corner kick advantage.
- Play was fairly clean, with just 11 total fouls and no cards issued in the match.
SF State dominated the first half and outshot the Otters 5-1 but was unable to find the back of the net. The Otters' leading goal scorer, sophomore Amelia McManus, scored twice. McManus chipped one in in the 58th minute and added another shot in the 81st minute. Tiger Rendon put the match well out of reach with a third Otters goal in the 84th minute. Julia Hagedorn scored her first goal of the season off of a pass from
Carly Ortega.
Marcella Salyer (2-6-2) made four saves in the loss. Maleni Morales (5-4-3) made six saves.
SF State next hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday, October 9. The Gators will celebrate their Senior Day in a pregame match honoring their eight seniors: Julia Hagedorn, Iliana Gallegos, Marcella Salyer, Kylie Schneider, AJ Tanner, Allie Vargas, Sydney Vidos, and Sydney Yuen.
