WSOC | Gators Earn Point On Senior Day

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's soccer team picked up a point in the CCAA standings with a 0-0 draw versus Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday at Cox Stadium.

  • The Gators honored their eight seniors in a pregame ceremony: Iliana Gallegos, Julia HagedornMarcella SalyerKylie Schneider, AJ Tanner, Allie Vargas, Sydney Vidos, and Sydney Yuen.
  • SF State moves to 3-7-3 overall and 1-3-2 in CCAA action while the visiting Toros move to 0-9-4 and 0-4-2 in CCAA action.
  • Both teams attempted four shots. All four of SF State's shots were on frame while two of CSDUH's were on goal.
  • The Gators held a 5-2 corner kick advantage.
  • Each team was issued one yellow card. CSUDH's Alicia Covarrubias pickd up the Toros' while Sydney Yuen picked up the yellow for SF State.

How It Happened
 


The first half was played mostly at midfield. Each team attempted a shot. Kylie Danelo and Kaia Mills fired off shots for the Toros in the 15th and 21st minutes, respectively, and Sarah Martinez attempted another shot in the 47th minute. The Gators got their first shot of the day in the 52nd minute on Alyna Flores' shot. Alexa Avelar had a couple of opportunities in the 79th and 83rd minutes but saw both of her attempts saved. The Toros countered in the 85th minute but Rahel Stone's shot was stopped. SF State had a golden opportunity in the 88th minute but Tanner's penalty kick was saved.

Marcella Salyer (2-6-3) made four saves en route to her fourth shutout of the season. Alyssa Newsom (0-7-3) also made four saves and registered her second shutout of the year for the Toros.
