SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with visiting Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday afternoon at Cox Stadium.
- SF State honored its nine seniors in a pregame ceremony: Andres Alfaro, Danny Estrada, Matias Herrera Fuentes, DiAngelo Gleaves, Manuell Kariuki, Jared MacDonald, Mats Risto Kippe, Justin Wolfe, and Pedro Zorraquin.
- With Sunday's result being a tie, both teams find themselves eliminated from postseason contention.
- The Gators move to 4-7-5 overall and 2-5-3 in CCAA play while CSUSB sits at 5-4-7 overall and 1-4-5 in CCAA play.
- CSUSB held a 13-8 shot advantage, including 4-2 on goal, with eight of those shots coming in the first half. The Gators split their eight shots evenly across the two halves. Both teams had one shot on goal in the first half.
- Both teams attempted a pair of corner kicks.
- There were 28 fouls recorded with Gustavo Ferrari also being issued a yellow card.
The Gators took the lead in the 18th minute. DiAngelo Gleaves intercepted a pass and sent it the other direction to Yeonhyuk Kwak in the middle, who sent an arcing ball forward nearly all the way into the box. Gustavo Ferrari got the ball and finished on the right side to the far post for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
In the 47th minute, Kendrick Rivas was whistled for a foul in the right side of the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Coyotes. Paul Iniguez went right and beat Matias Herrera Fuentes to tie the match at 1-1.
Herrera Fuentes (3-6-4) made two saves. Mark Gamez (1-0-1) made one save for the Coyotes.
The Gators wrap up the season on Thursday, October 27 with a 2 p.m. match at Sonoma State (9-9-1/5-5-1 CCAA). That match will be broadcast on the CCAA Network with live stats available at sfstategators.com. Updates will also be available on Twitter at @sfstate_msoc.
