SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco State men's basketball player Toby Okwuokei has been named to the 2022-23 California Collegiate Athletic Association Preseason Watch List ahead of the upcoming season.

The senior guard returns from a season in which he was named to the CCAA Second Team. In 2021-22, Okwuokei led SF State in both scoring and rebounding. His 12.8 points per game ranked 15th in the conference and his 6.3 rebounds per game ranked 12th, while his .412 shooting percentage ranked eighth among CCAA players. Okwuokei also ranked tied for 16th in steals (1.2 per game) and 21st in minutes (28.5 per game). The Rancho Cucamonga native scored a career-high 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting in a non-conference contest at Regis on November 18, and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds on December 2 at Humboldt State.

The Gators finished last season in seventh place in the conference standings. In this season's preseason coaches poll, the Gators are picked 11th. Cal State San Bernardino is picked to repeat as conference champions. Fans will get their first glance of SF State on Monday, November 7 in an exhibition at UC Santa Barbara. The Gators kick off the regular season with a pair of road games on Saturday, November 12 versus Academy of Art and on Sunday, November 13 at Dominican.
