SAN FRANCISCO – Four players from the San Francisco volleyball team earned All-CCAA Honors. For the first time since 2012, the Gators had two major award winners.
Tamiya Wilson was named the Conference Freshman of the Year while
Kimberly DeBoer was named the Conference Setter of the Year. Both players earned spots on the First Team. Joining them are
Alhana Velasquez and
Brianna DeBoer, who earned All-CCAA Honorable Mention Honors.
Kimberly DeBoer becomes the program's first Setter of the Year after leading the conference in assists per sets at 10.93. She finished with 1006 assists on the season and cracked the top ten in career assists with 1603 total assists. DeBoer added 204 digs and posted eight double-doubles. In addition, DeBoer added 76 kills, 21 service aces and 23 blocks. DeBoer was named CCAA Setter of the Week twice this past season.
Wilson was named the first Freshman of the Year since Meagan Wright in 2012 and is the third player to earn it. The freshman had a dominate start to her career and led the conference with 4.03 kills per set off 371 kills. Wilson recorded double-digit kills in all but four matches and had six double-doubles. She also had 17 service aces, 156 digs and 28 blocks. Her 371 kills ranked seventh in a single season. She also ranked second in the conference in points with 4.38 per set with 402.5 points. Wilson earned CCAA Offensive Player of the Week twice. Her 30 kills in the final game of the season broke a single match school record.
In her second season as the starting Libero,
Brianna DeBoer averaged 4.12 digs per set to finish fifth in the conference. She led the team with 379 digs while adding 26 service aces and 30 assists. DeBoer posted 20 or more digs in six games this season.
Velasquez stepped into a bigger role her sophomore season after only playing in eight matches a season ago. She was second on the team with 233 kills and ninth in conference in kills per set (2.84) and points per set (3.36). Velasquez also added 26 service aces, 80 digs and 28 blocks. Velasquez had a career game in the final home game of the season against Stanislaus and posted a career high 20 kills and 21.5 points.
