SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State women's basketball team closed out the 2022 year with a 58-57 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. The Gators build a 16-point lead in the first half that was cut down to a single possession after a pour third quarter. The Otters had a chance to win with seconds remaining but Amelia Smith's shot fell short and 
Taimane Lesa-Hardee grabbed the rebound to secure the win.
 
 
 
	- Gators improve to 6-6 on the season and 2-4 in the CCAA while the Otters fall to 4-7 and 0-6 in the CCAA. Gators have now swept the Otters for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
 
	- Mya Blake led the offense with 21 points. Tierra Snipes had her second career double-double with 10 rebounds and a career-high 16 points.
 
	- In her first game back from injury, Cheyenne Mckinnie added seven points and five rebounds.
 
	- For a second game in a row, the Gators dominated the boards and out rebounded the Otters 56 to 37. The 56 rebounds ties a single game record.
 
	- SF State had 20 turnovers compared to the Otters' 11.
 
The Otters did not score a basket in the first quarter and scored all their points from the line. The Gators meanwhile got off to a hot start, clipping .500 percent from the field to take a 21-6 lead after one quarter. Monterey Bay started to find some rhythm on offense and kept pace with the Gators. With under 1:30 left in the second quarter, Blake made both baskets at the line and shot a buzzer-beat three to give the Gators a 39-23 lead going into the locker room.
Turnovers and fouls plagued the Gators in the third quarter. SF State had eight turnovers and the Otters went 5-for-7 from the line. The Otters buried a three to cut the Gator's lead to 48-46 heading into the final frame. The Gators kept the Otters at bay throughout the final frame. After a pair of free-throws made the game a one-point game with 33 seconds to go, Mckinnie was fouled and sent to the line to add onto the Gators' lead. She missed both shots and the Otters were able to get possession with 3.3 seconds left. The game-winner was short and Lesa-Hardee's rebound sealed the Otter's fate.
 
Gators will remain home the rest of the week. SF State's next game will be against Sonoma State on Thursday, January 5th at 5:30 p.m. The broadcast will be available on the
