SAN MARCOS - The San Francisco State women's basketball team fell to #16 Cal State San Marcos at the Sports Center Thursday evening. The Gators led the majority of the first half and played tight during the third quarter but San Marcos was able to take advantage of sloppy play from the Gators in the final frame to win the game.

- Gators fall to 4-5 on the season and 1-3 in the CCAA. Cal State San Marcos improves to 6-1 and 3-0 in the CCAA.
- SF State falls to 2-9 in the All-time series.
- Mya Blake led the team for a third game in a row with 16 points.
- SF State had 19 turnovers with nine of them coming in the fourth quarter.
- The Gators shot .417 percent from the field while the Cougars shot .519. San Marcos shot .634 in both the third and fourth quarter.
- Tierra Snipes was a rebound shy of finishing with her second double-double. She chipped in 11 points.
Gators did a good job controlling the ball in the first quarter, only turning it over twice. A lay-up from Snipes gave the Gators a 16-11 lead with 1:35 to go in the quarter. The Cougars got another point from a free throw, but the Gators were able to take a two-possession lead into the next quarter.
Blake banked an open three to start the second quarter. The Cougars stayed within reach of the Gators' lead and tie the game 27-27 with a driving lay-up from Dynnah Buckner with 2:46 remaining in the quarter. A shooting foul from Blake on their following possession sent the Cougars to the line and gave them the first lead since early in the first quarter. Both teams had a couple more opportunities at the charity stripe kept the game tied 31-31 at the end of the half.
A 9-0 run from the Cougars put San Marcos up 46-41 with 5:06 left remaining in the third. A lay-up from
Muirae Gomez stopped the bleeding and the Gators came back within a possession on a couple of times during the third quarter.

SF State opened the fourth down 57-51. The Cougars used a 11-0 run to start the quarter to take their largest lead of the game. SF State, who turned the ball over six times during that run, would not get a point in the fourth quarter until 5:28 left in the game when Snipes made a free throw. San Marcos continued to build on the lead and the Gators were unable to overcome the deficit.
