CARSON - The San Francisco State women's basketball team stayed with Cal State Dominguez Hills late but fell 70-61 in its final road contest of the season.
- Gators fall to 8-15 overall and 6-13 in the CCAA. CSUDH improves to 12-10 and 10-7 in the CCAA.
- Muirae Gomez had a team high 16 points and seven rebounds. Alexsandra Alvarado was second on the team with 14 points.
- Both Alvarado and Taimane Lesa-Hardee had four steals
- Dominguez Hills went 24-37 at the free throw line.
- Lea Anderson had 15 points for CSUDH.
The Gators and Toros kept things close through the first quarter with neither team leading by more than two possessions. The Toros used a 14-4 scoring run in the second quarter to take a comfortable 26-17 lead into the halftime. Fouls were becoming an issue for the Gators as they sent the Toros to the foul line 13 times in the first half and Ashley Hart fouled out midway through the third quarter. Despite the setback, the Gators were able to crawl their way back and come within one basket. Gators were down 65-60 with 1:03 left. Dominguez Hills missed shots at the free throw line but the Gators could not score on the ensuing possession.
SF State will return home for its final two games of the season. They will host Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, Feb 24. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. Thursday's game will remain closed to the public. The game will be broadcast on the CCAA Network with live stats available at sfstategators.com.
