BSB | Toros Big Seventh Inning Costly For Gators

CARSON — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped its final game of the series with Cal State Dominguez Hills at Toros Field 7-4. The Toros plated five runners in the bottom of the seventh to reclaim a lead they would hold the rest of the game.

By the Numbers


 

  • SF State falls to to 6-6 and 1-3 in the CCAA while CSU Dominguez Hills improves to 8-6 and 3-1 in the CCAA.
  • Kody Gardner went 3-for-5 at the plate and scored a run.
  • Sammy Gonzales had three hit by pitches and scored two runs for the Gators.
  • The Gators defense had two errors and the pitching staff gave up five walks.
  • Justin Clark went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

How It Happened



The Gators opened the game with Nick Upstill hitting an RBI single to bring Gonzales in. The lead disappeared when Anthony Accordino hit a two-run RBI double in the bottom of the first inning. SF State was able to reclaim the lead when Matthew Farren hit a double to bring Gardner in to go up 3-2. in the top of the sixth. The Toros offense took advantage of free bases in the bottom of the seventh and plated five runners to go up 7-3. The Gators loaded up the bases in the top of the eighth, but could not capitalize on it and were only able to add one more run in the top of the ninth.

On the Mound

 

  • Mike Manley started the game for the Gators and pitched two innings and gave up two runs with one being earned run.
  • Austin Moberg came in during the third inning and pitched 4.2 innings. He threw two strikeouts and gave up two runs while being credited with the loss.
  • Jack Reitsma, Justice Naraghi and Andrew Silva also came out of the bullpen for the Gators.
