SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball team fell to Cal State San Bernardino 9-7 at Maloney Field in game one Friday afternoon. The Yotes scored eight runs in the eighth and ninth innings to take a lead over the Gators.
- SF State falls to to 6-7 and 1-4 in the CCAA while CSU San Bernardino improves to 8-7 and 4-1 in the CCAA.
- Jo Bynum had a team high three RBIs.
- Nick Upstill went 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk.
- The Gators struck out ten times compared to the Yote's six times.
- SF State stranded 12 runners on base.
The top three batters in the line-up each opened the game with a hit and
Kody Gardner hit into left field to bring a runner in.
Nick Upstill hit his first home run of the season over the right field fence to give the Gators a two-run lead in the second inning.
Up 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh,
Jo Bynum hit a double with bases loaded to plate all three runners.
Sammy Gonzales would drive Bynum home with a double of his own.
The Yotes scored eight runs between the eighth and ninth innings to take a 9-7 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. The Gators drew free bases with a walk and back-to-back HBPs to load the bases with two outs. The comeback was denied with a strikeout to end the game.
- Nathan Shinn started on the mound and gave SF State two scoreless innings.
- Jordyn Eglite pitched 6.1 innings and was charged with the loss.
- Luke Hempel got the win in relief for the Yotes.
