SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped its final game of the series to Cal State San Bernardino 7-1 at Maloney Field Sunday afternoon. The Yotes scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a lead they would never relinquish.
- SF State falls to to 7-9 and 2-6 in the CCAA while CSU San Bernardino improves to 10-8 and 6-2 in the CCAA.
- The Gators only hit the ball five times and did not get any free bases through hit by pitch or walk.
- Alec Smith went 2-for-4 on the day.
- Kody Gardner knocked in the only run of the day.
Most of the Gator offense took place in the first inning.
Nick Upstill laid down a clean bunt to get to first. Gardner's pop up single drove Upstill in to give the Gators a 1-0 lead. With two runners on in the top of the fifth with no outs,
Austin Moberg went for the force play at first but over threw the ball and two runners scored. Daryl Ruiz hit and RBI with his next at bat and a pass ball scored Ruiz and ended Moberg's day. The Yotes would add another run to the score before the top of the inning was finished to lead 5-1. The Gators offense would only record two more hits the rest of the way.
