POMONA — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped its series finale 11-5 to Cal Poly Pomona. The Gators had some momentum at the plate in the middle and late innings but struggled to contain a hot Bronco offense.
- SF State falls to 14-22 and 9-19 in CCAA action while Cal Poly Pomona improves to 19-14 and 15-9 in the CCAA
- Sammy Gonzales drew three hit by pitches and has a CCAA leading 24.
- Daniel Santos went 2-for-4 with three RBIs
- The Gators drew six walks with Justin Clark finishing with a team high two.
- The Broncos had 16 hits with five of them going for extra bases.
The Broncos took a 3-0 lead in the third, with all three hits in the inning bringing in a run.
Sammy Gonzales hit a two-out single to plate a runner in the fifth and
Daniel Santos followed up with a single to cut the deficit to one run.
The Broncos put up another three runs in the bottom of the fifth and added four more runs in the following inning. Down 10-2 in the bottom of the eighth with two outs,
Michael Cunningham hit an RBI single to plate one runner and
Daniel Santos hit a single down the right field line to bring in two more.
Justin Clark flied out to end the inning and Broncos retired the first three batters in the ninth to end the game.
The Gators will take a break from conference action and play a home and home series with Menlo College. First game will take place April 15 at 2 pm at Menlo.
