How It Happened

The Gators struck first when Gavin Mancha and AJ Schrader went for the double steal, resulting in a run by Schrader.
After the Cougars responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, Gardner helped bring in a pair of runs to go up by two. The Cougars matched the Gators run production in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to keep the game tied. SF State broke the game open with back-to-back hits from Remmers and Mancha to take a 3-run lead in the fifth. In the bottom of the inning, Jordyn Eglite struck out three batters to strand a pair of runners on and keep the Cougars off the board.

Gardner doubled to score a run in the sixth and scored thanks to a Cougar's error to give the Gators a 9-4 lead in the sixth. A home run by the Cougars would give them a pair of runs back but the Gators added another pair of runs in the top of the eighth. With bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Gators turned a double play to allow one run to score and retired the next batter to end the game.
