BSB | Gators Drop Series Finale With Seawolves

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball fell to Sonoma State 7-3 in the series finale to finish with a series split. The Gators stayed within a run the majority of the way, but a three-run ninth inning from Sonoma in the ninth proved too much to overcome.

How It Happened

After the Gators gave up a run in the second off a sac fly, Rios scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning to tie it up.
Sammy Gonzales hit a lead off double in the bottom of the third and Santos drove him in on the next at bat.
In the top of the sixth, the Seawolves hit back-to-back extra base hits to plate three runners and take a 4-2 lead. Falcon Magaña hit a ground out to short stop in the bottom of the inning to bring in Rios and bring the Gators back within one. After Andrew Silva navigated the Gators through two scoreless innings, he gave up a lead-off single in the ninth. Two more pitchers came into the game as the Seawolves added three more runs to take a four-run lead. The deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Gators dropped its series final.
