POMONA — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped the series opener with Cal Poly Pomona 9-4. Neither team held more than a one-run lead until the eighth when the Broncos put up six runs in the eighth.
- SF State falls to 14-19 and 9-16 in CCAA action while Cal Poly Pomona improves to 16-14 and 11-9 in the CCAA
- Daniel Santos went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs.
- Appearing in first game since March 18, Nick Upstill went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.
- AJ Schrader had a pair of RBIs for the Gators.
After Pomona loaded the bases in the bottom of the third, the Broncos were able to score first when Nick Lugo put the ball and play and grounded out. The Gators opened the fourth with three consecutive singles.
Kody Gardner's brought a runner in.
AJ Schrader hit a fly deep enough into the outfield to bring a runner in.
The Broncos equalized in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run and took a 3-2 lead in the fifth. Santos scored in the eighth off a throwing error and Schrader hit his second sacrifice hit of the game to bring
Kyler Crone in.
The Broncos scored six runs in the bottom of the inning and shut the Gators down in the top of the ninth.
- Jordyn Eglite went five innings, giving up eight hits, three runs, two walks and threw four strikeouts.
- Justice Naraghi drew the loss in relief after giving up four runs in the eighth.
- Matthew Henry earned the win for Pomona.
