POMONA — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped both games in a Saturday double-header. The Gator's offense could not get things going in game one and fell 6-0. In game two, the Gators held a 5-4 lead heading into the final inning but the Broncos rallied to come back and win 6-5.
- SF State falls to 14-21 and 9-18 in CCAA action while Cal Poly Pomona improves to 18-14 and 13-9 in the CCAA
- AJ Schrader went a perfect 3-for-3 in game 2.
- The Gators only managed three hits in game 1.
- SF State only drew two walks between the two games.
The Gators only had three hits in game one, all of them resulting in singles.
Daniel Santos was the only Gator to get into scoring position but the Gators were unable to bring him home. The Broncos scored a pair of runs in the second and third innings and never looked back.
After back-to-back hit by pitches,
Richie Rios opened up the first with a two-run RBI single.
The lead did not last long, as the Broncos plated three runners in the bottom of the second to take the lead. In the top of the fourth,
Sammy Gonzales hit a single to center to bring in one runner and a fielding error aided another runner to score.
Santos hit a single to bring Gonzales in and give the Gators a 5-3 lead. Leading 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh,
Austin Moberg came into pitch. he gave up three walks in a row, leading to Jack Reistma to take his place on the mound. Reistma gave up a two-run RBI single and the Broncos took the game.
- Gary Grosjean was charged with the loss in game one after giving up five hits and four earned runs.
- Tyler Franks started game two and only went 1.2 innings with three runs given up.
- Mario Vargas pitched well in relief of Franks and went 4.1 innings, only giving up one unearned run.
